Lovecraftian tactics game Black Legend will be getting a free demo, as part of the Steam Autumn Sale. To celebrate, the developers put out a new Gameplay trailer, showing off more of the upcoming title.
The trailer shows off some of the items you can purchase to upgrade your band of mercenaries. This gear includes some sick medieval armor, so you can really give the cultists a beating they won’t expect.
We’re also treated to more of the actual gameplay, which has a neat focus on verticality. At multiple points in the trailer, we’re shown characters being able to climb up objects. While we don’t know the exact benefit of this, there’s an interesting clue to be had in one of the melee mercenaries sitting atop a crate.
Regular movement will be unrestrained, similar to Divinty: Original Sin. Rather, it only goes into “tactics mode” when you start an encounter with the enemies. This is a cool feature, especially since it means there’s no loading in and out of “fight scenes” . Instead, entering an enemy’s aggro range will get you into the fight, and you start the fight based on your current position.
The playable demo for Black Legend will be playable until October 13th, as part of the Steam Autumn Sale.
