During our time at Busan Indie Connect Festival 2023, we met up with Tripearl Games Business Manager John Joo, as he talks about their upcoming soulslike game VEDA.
VEDA is developed using Unreal Engine 5 and its first teaser trailer was released back in 2022. VEDA is set to be release sometime in 2024 on both Steam and Epic Game Store for PC.
As explained by John Joo, VEDA has the fundamentals of a hardcore soulslike game, along with the “growth features” of a rougelite game.
VEDA has been developed for about 11 months and through this time, the Tripearl Games CEO as well as developments have over 20 years of experience in the game industry. That being said, they have set high standards in regards to their game.
However, John Joo said that in the end, Tripearl Games is still an indie game development company. The CEO had gave their approval of the current progress of the game, despite the fact that the developers have been striving for higher quality in many of the combat scenarios in VEDA.
John Joo mentions that there had been a lot of discussions throughout the development of the game, but from that, the team were able to communicate their thoughts across with each other which also improved the development process. He continues by saying that the reason why the team were able to develop VEDA within 11 months was due using a lot of pre-made assets found in the game engine.
