Ubisoft has just announced the 20th Anniversary Edition for Beyond Good & Evil. Set to launch on June 25, 2024, Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition features updated visuals running at up to 4K resolution and 60 FPS, updated controls and quality-of-life features, new in-game treasure hunt and Speedrun Mode as well as a special anniversary gallery.
The game will be available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch, PC via Ubisoft Connect, Steam, Epic Games Store, Amazon Luna, and GeForce Now, and will be included on day one with a Ubisoft+ Premium subscription. Additionally, a physical edition and Collector’s Edition will be available through Limited Run Games, with preorders opening on July 12.
You play as Jade, who sets out with her adoptive uncle Pey’j to explore Hillys, a watery planet under constant threat from the DomZ aliens. Embark on a journey with them and experience a blend of action gameplay and thrilling emotional cutscenes!
As mentioned there are a lot of quality-of-life features to the game such as autosave, cutscene-skip, full controller and keyboard & mouse support, and cross-save across all platforms. With the speedrun mode, challenge yourself to beat the game as it tracks each levels best times as well as current times. It also has no saves feature so be prepared to lose it all if you die.
Lastly, the Anniversary Gallery which features previously unreleased art, videos, anecdotes from developers, and other never-before-seen content.
Beyond Good & Evil was released in 2003 and a sequel titled Beyond Good & Evil 2 was announced in 2008 before being reannounced as a prequel in E3 2017. The game has broke the record held by Duke Nukem Forever (2011) for the longest development period of a AAA video game, at more than 15 years.
