Take a walk on the Wild Side with the trailer for the recently-announced Beastars Season 2. The anime will air on Netflix in 2021, joining the platform’s 2021 lineup. It’s being animated by Orange Animation, who did the first season as well.
From the trailer we can see that season 2 takes place right after the events of season 1, dealing with the aftermath of the season finale. Those who haven’t watched the anime should avoid the trailer since it contains big spoilers about the end of the first season.
Manga readers in the video’s comment section are saying that the trailer shows several scenes not in the manga, including a new character who’s a kangaroo.
Additionally, the trailer shows off the opening song used for season 2, Kaibutsu by Yoasobi.
Previously, the anime’s official account had revealed key art for the upcoming season.
Beastars tells the story of a world full of anthropomorphised animals where carnivores and herbivores live together, though not without strong tension. It follows the life of Legosi, a gray wolf who falls in love with Haru, a rabbit.
When the first season of Beastars was released, many people praised the anime’s use of CG, as it avoided a lot of the uncanny valley stigma often associated with CG character models in anime.
It’s been a big year for Beastars, as the manga had also wrapped up several months ago. The anime also found its way to Netflix earlier this year, leading to another spike in its popularity.
