Nintendo has announced the hotly-anticipated release date for Bayonetta 3, just hours after news about the game being rated broke.
In the new trailer, it was announced that Bayonetta 3 would release on October 28th for the Nintendo Switch.
That’s not all that they showed, however- we now have more information on the plot of the upcoming game, as well as a look at the new playable characters shown off.
It looks like Bayonetta 3 will be dealing with a similar Multiverse situation, with multiple characters making reference to other universes that they have to fend off from Homunculi, the game’s new enemies.
We’re also introduced to Viola- a new playable character sporting a katana and a cat-like demon summon.
We don’t have much info on how her playstyle will differ from Bayonetta, though based on the purple effects during her brief gameplay sequences in the trailer it’s safe to assume she’ll have some form of Witch Time mechanic as well.
The official Nintendo Twitter account does also seem to lean into the ongoing fan theory of an alternate universe Bayonetta, making direct reference to “another Bayonetta” but never outright confirming it.
“Bayonetta engages in a bewitching battle against the Homunculi, a feisty new witch named Viola enters the scene, and… is that another Bayonetta? “, the tweet reads.
The YouTube video even mentions the main Bayonetta featured in the trailers sporting “Familiar pigtails”, which was part of what started the fan speculation in the first place.
FInally, they’ve also announced the addition of Naive Angel Mode- this feature allows you to play with censored visuals, for fans not too comfortablw with the skin exposure of your average Bayonetta game.
Relax, the witch is back and sexier than ever🌙
We've added the revolutionary "Naive Angel Mode" to Bayonetta 3 so more people can fully enjoy it👍
By turning it on, you can play right in the living room without having to worry about what's on screen… we think😅#Bayonetta3 pic.twitter.com/SEs3vqrdYc
