Season 6 of Battlefield 2042, Dark Creations, is on the horizon, bringing along many new additions such as the new map Redacted as well as various newly added weapons, gadgets, vehicles, and quality-of-life improvements.
Dark Creations, Season 6 of Battlefield 2042, will be released on 10 October 2023 and we got an opportunity to attend a preview event.
Without further ado, here are the many new additions to Battlefield 2042 in Season 6.
New Map – Redacted
In this season, a new map named “Redacted” will be introduced to Battlefield 2042.
Redacted will be a claustrophobic map with tight spaces, focusing more on close-quarters combat with no vehicles roaming around.
The map is inspired by the likes of Operation Metro and Operation Locker, both multiplayer maps from Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4 respectively.
This particular map will also be the first completely indoor map in Battlefield 2042, and players can utilize its tight corners to ambush unsuspecting opponents.
New Weapons
In Dark Creations, 3 new firearms of different categories will be added to Battlefield 2042, namely the VHX D3 Assault Rifle, the G428 Designated Marksman Rifle, and the L9CZ Pistol.
VHX D3 Assault Rifle
This new assault rifle is optimized for its portability, making it a great weapon for medium to close-quarters combat, much in theme with the new map Redacted.
G428 Designated Marksman Rifle
The G428 Designated Marksman Rifle possesses substantial penetration powers as well as stable accuracy for long-distance engagement.
L9CZ Pistol, Sidearm
This sidearm is a semi-automatic pistol with high accuracy, thus suitable for close-quarter combat.
New Gadget
Pouches
Pouches are newly introduced support items, handy for many situations as they come in Ammo and Health Variety.
New Vehicle
YUV-2 “PONDHAWK”
YUV-2 “PONDHAWK” is a 2-person vehicle that resembles a motorcycle, but it has the ability to fly and allow players to traverse across the battlefield with swiftness.
Despite the YUV-2 “PONDHAWK” being introduced as a new vehicle this season, it will not be useable in the new map Redacted as the battlefield is completely indoors.
QoL Changes
This new season of Battlefield 2042 will also be introducing various QoL changes to the game as well as balance tweaks.
Firstly, the Aim Assist feature has been tweaked, improving cross-play fairness among the players from both consoles and Windows PCs.
Multiple vehicle handling has also been improved, especially in terms of the turning speed of tanks, general vehicle speed, aircraft landing gravity, and jet handling.
Additionally, Navin Rao, the Recon class, is receiving some balance changes.
Once the update goes live, Rao’s Cyber Warfare Suite ability will be changed, whereupon killing a hacked enemy, the location of all surrounding enemies will be revealed.
As a means to match the new hacking behaviors, the EMP grenade and OV-P Recon Drone from Wikus “Casper” Van Daele will also be receiving adjustments.
Season 6 Battle Pass
In Season 6, a new Battle Pass, Ultimate Pack, will be introduced, featuring more exclusive cosmetics and allowing players to skip 20 tiers out of 100 tiers upon purchase.
As usual, all newly added items are free to be unlocked, however, the Premium Battle Pass will provide players with more cosmetics and in-game currency.
Free Access Period
Coinciding with Season 6, Battlefield 2042 will also be launching a free access period from 12 October 2023 to 16 October 2023.
During this period, anyone can download and play Battlefield 2042 for free on the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows PC via Steam.
Battlefield 2042 Season 6 Dark Creations is slated to be released on 10 October 2023.
