Battlefield 2024 Season 1: Zero Hour, the first expansion update for the FPS game has been confirmed to launch on the 9th of June.
EA has also released a list of new content that players can expect to be added in this update.
“The year is 2042. The world is on the brink. Shortages of food, energy, and clean water have led to dozens of failed nations, creating the greatest refugee crisis in human history. Among these Non-Patriated, or No-Pats as they call themselves, are families, farmers, engineers – and even soldiers. Amidst this crisis, nations become embroiled in an all-out war for resources. No-Pat Specialists join both sides, not fighting for a flag, but for the future of the Non-Patriated in this new world.”
“Unleash the unexpected as the world of Battlefield 2042 evolves with Battlefield 2042 – Season 1: Zero Hour. Here is a list of every piece of content being added to the game in Zero Hour:
- New Specialist: vehicle killer expert Ewelina Lis
Vehicle killer expert Ewelina Lis joins the No-Pats to bring airborne enemies to their knees.
Players can use her rocket launcher to even the odds against the enemy with player-guided projectiles and the Armor Hunter trait to get invaluable intel on damaged vehicles. - New vehicles: The RAH-68 Huron and YG-99 Hannibal Gunships
These new vehicles are equipped with radar deflection and advanced defensive capabilities. - New weapons: The Ghostmaker R10 Crossbow and BSV-M Marksman Rifle
Quiet but deadly, the R10 crossbow is a versatile weapon, while the BSV-M Rifle lets players take out enemies from afar, ideal for mid-range combat. - New gadget: Smoke grenade launcher
Players can provide extra cover for their squad by laying down a wall of smoke. You can use the Smoke Grenade Launcher in both offensive and defensive situations to open up new windows of opportunity.
- New map: Exposure
This new map takes place in the Canadian Rockies. Here players will have to traverse the extreme vertical terrain of a new battlefield.
All of the new items can be unlocked for free by playing through the game’s new battle pass. The premium version of the battle pass will cost 1000 BFC ($10/RM44).
DICE and Ripple Effect Studios are reportedly continuing to update the game in terms of patches and fixes. Among these improvements include revisions to certain maps to create better traversal and flow.
The first is Kaleidoscope, which will launch in August. Kaleidoscope is receiving more cover to help
break sightlines across the map as well as assets that help improve the destruction effects in the
environments. The map will also receive new areas, including a forward operating base in the park and a
second command post closer to the tower.
In Season 2, Renewal will receive a similar overhaul. Sectors A and E will be removed from the map to
focus attention on the map’s center. The Solar Section will be revised to include more cover and assets to
make the area feel more entrenched, and the Security checkpoint will be connected to the Synesco
Buildings in order to provide more cover.
They have also said that season 1 will be the final season to support 128 player maps and game modes. Starting with season 2, the game is focusing on delivering a good 64-player experience, particularly for Breakthrough mode.
Battlefield 2024 Season 1 Zero Hour will be available on June 9th, 2022. This is just one of four seasons that DICE plans to launch in the game’s first year.
