Plans for Taipei Game Show 2020 revealed…mostly
Today saw a press conference for Taipei Game Show 2020, with various companies showing talking about their lineup at the event; of course, as we highlighted in our headline, Bandai Namco Entertainment talks about revealing three unannounced titles! We also have to mention the presence of the Taiwan Game Industry Promotion Association, MADHEAD, SEGA, Netmarble Corporation, Jie Shideng and Sony Interactive Entertainment Taiwan. Look forward to demos and more to emerge!
This year’s theme of Taipei Game Show 2020 is “Game to Gather”, something we covered earlier last year. This theme is meant to impress on how games can reach people’s emotions, that with a push of a button, they can transcend boundaries and find a commonality! For the general public, the B2C (Business to Consumer) Player Zone is at the Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 1, from 9:00 to 17:00.
The B2C Player Zone is expected to welcome over 350,000 people over four days, to be the hottest area of Taipei Game Show. Exhibition booths will span two floors, with visitors able to see games across various platforms including console, mobile, PC / online, and AR / VR. Arcade machines will also be making their appearance. Visitors can also expect Asian works too.
Console Games as Art
The scale of this year’s exhibition is larger than ever before! Sony Interactive Entertainment Taiwan will be showing off Playstation 4 and Playstation VR games based off the “You’re A STAR” theme. Final Fantasy VII Remake, Nioh 2 and The Last of Us Part II will be showcased. Also, Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Taiwan Championship will also be held for the first time on 6 February.
Bandai Namco Entertainment Taiwan will be bringing ONE PIECE Pirate Warriors 4, Sword Art Online Tour, My Hero One’s Justice 2 and many more, apart from the unannounced games they’ve coyly hinted at. There will also be a massive themed area in celebration of PAC-MAN’s 40th anniversary. Famous voice actors, game developers and more will be present at stage activities.
SEGA Games for their part will be showing off Yakuza: Like a Dragon, 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, Mario & Sonic At 2020 Tokyo Olympics and other titles. Any unrevealed content at the press conference will have to wait for the event. First timer Jie Shideng will be bringing in new game experiences for the Nintendo Switch and Playstation 4.
For Taiwan and Japan, they’ve been quite receptive of games like Ring Fit Adventure, then additional content for Pokemon Sword / Shield, and such. Resident Evil: Project Resistance and Azur Lane: Crosswave will be making their first appearances in Taiwan. Ubisoft will be selling official merchandise and gaming peripherals at the event.
Titles from Japan and Korea
Japanese and Korean companies are not missing the action either at Taipei Game Show. Among the attendees will be MADHEAD (Tower of Saviors) and KOMOE GAME (Fate/Grand Order, Final Gear).
Netmarble Corporation will be showing their newest RPG, Seven Deadly Sins: The Battle of Light and Dark – which itself is coming globally as Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross – and a film based on their open world MMORPG Blade and Soul Revolution. TEPPEN and TEPPEN TAIPEI GAMESHOW CUP will also be at the event.
miHoYo on their end will have Honkai Impact 3rd, while Gravity Interactive will have RO series titles like RO Tactics and Ragnarok: The Birth of a New Generation.
High profile gaming products to launch in Asia for the first time
Let’s not forget various high profile esports brands at this year’s Taipei Game Show. Republic of Gamers’ (ROG) Z11 ITX and related lineup at CES 2020 will be seen at the event. The official launch of a new Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege league will begin, featuring new generation rapper, Gao Xuan, as the event ambassador.
Lenovo Legion is working exclusively with EA to invite players to experience for themselves the Triple-A title, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, as well as inviting various figures and players to the PUBG 8 tournament.
AORUS Gigabyte is expected to announce the new AORUS GeForce RTX2080 Super 8G. Famous French esports figure KennyS will be on stage to take part in the “TGSAORUS Esports Stream”. MSI will be launching the MAG Core Liquid AIO that was seen at CES 2020.
Tabletop Game Zone
This area is like that of a family unit to gather together to play a table top game. This includes Yu-Gi-Oh!, Keyforge and puzzlers. Players stand to win aa Playstation 4 Pro 1TB God of War / The Last of Us bundle.
