Those interested in looking for jobs making some of the hottest videogames on the Asian market, but don’t want to leave the country can consider applying for Bandai Namco Studios Malaysia.
The studio has posted new listings over on CareerBraves, a website for job listings in the game industry. They listings include Modelers, Concept Artists, as well as Animators.
All of these positions are based in Bandai Namco Studios Malaysia’s office in Kelana Jaya, Petaling Jaya.
Character Modeler (Junior/Middle)
This position will see successful applicants creating Characters for 3D games. According to the listing, applicants will need experience in the following 3D software:
- Autodesk Maya
- Adobe Photoshop
- ZBrush
- Substance Painter
- Unreal Engine
On top of that, applicants will need to submit a portfolio, showcasing both high-poly and low-poly work, along with wireframes and UV textures. The listing also recommends including how long each model took to complete.
Environment Modeler (Junior/Middle)
Though it has the same requirements as the Character Modeler position, Environment Modelers will instead be creating assets like backgrounds, as well as props. Unreal Engine experience is especially important here, since they should be able to optimize their assets for the engine.
Concept Artist (Junior/Middle)
This position will see applicants creating 2D concepts for games. Applicants are required to have experience in Adobe Photoshop, as well as Illustration fundamentals.
Though the listing says it wants applicants with 1-3 years experience in the games industry, fresh graduates are still encouraged to apply for the position.
Animator (Junior/Middle)
The studio is also hiring in-house animators to work on their projects. For the junior position, applicants will need 1-3 years experience while Middle Animators will need 4-5.
Applicants will need to be familiar with Autodesk Maya, although the listing mentions Motion Builder and 3DS Max as an appreciated add-on.
Additionally, applicants will need experience with Unreal Engine, and the team would also appreciate animators with rigging or scripting experience.
Considering neither of the jobs have any paper qualification requirement, this is a good time for anyone with a passion in these fields to apply, assuming they’ve put together the appropriate portfolios.
Considering most of the roles are also accepting fresh graduates, it’s also a good sign that those without industry experience can still get a job.
