At the February 2023 PlayStation State Of Play, it’s now been confirmed that the upcoming Baldur’s Gate III will be coming to PS5 and that it will launch on the 31st of August 2023.
The game is being developed by Larian Studios, who are most well known for creating the Divinity series of RPGs. You can watch the latest trailer released at the State of Play showcase below:
“Baldur’s Gate 3 launches August 31, 2023. From the creators of Divinity: Original Sin 2 comes a next-generation RPG set in the Forgotten Realms. Gather your party and return to Baldur’s Gate in a tale of fellowship and betrayal, sacrifice and survival, and the lure of absolute power”.
“Mysterious abilities are awakening inside you, drawn from a Mind Flayer parasite planted in your brain. Resist, and turn darkness against itself or embrace corruption, and become ultimate evil”.
The game is a sequel to Baldur’s Gate II: Shadow of Amn which was originally released all the way back in the year 2000. Baldur’s Gate III takes place 120 years after the second game and like the previous games in the series, takes place in the Forgotten Realms, a campaign setting for Dungeons & Dragons.
We actually got to speak to the game’s director Swen Vincke back in 2020 at Level Up KL so check out our coverage for more information about its development.
Baldur’s Gate III will launch for PS5, PC, and Mac on the 31st of August 2023.
It was also previously announced for Google Stadia but with the shutdown of the platform, that version has also been canceled.
