The Backbone One Playstation Edition has been revealed through the Playstation Blog, an officially licensed mobile controller for iPhone users.
The design is inspired by the PS5 DualSense wireless controller including the transparent face buttons and “floating” appearance. Naturally, it’s meant to be “right at home” with the other accessories in the PS5 lineup; the Pulse 3D headset, for example, can be connected directly to the Backbone One.
Simply plug an iPhone into the Backbone One, have a Playstation console, and start playing PS4 / PS5 games through the PS Remote Play app. It’s not Playstation exclusive use either: you can use the controller for games with controller support that you can find on the App Store or other game streaming services. For further customization of your Playstation experience, download the Backbone App and check out the integrations or simply browse the game titles available. A dedicated row within the app will show the new releases and updates from Playstation.
As it’s powered by the iPhone, charging is not required. More information can be found through the official website. The Backbone One Playstation Edition will be available in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Netherlands, and the United Kingdom at launch, with more countries to follow.
