The OBT for Azur Lane is finally available on Google Play Store and App Store, at least for select regions, but don’t let that stop you. Be sure to read our review here to see what think about it. If you are new to the game, these are some tips and tricks to get your on your way.
As is the tradition with just about every modern mobage, the pertinent question is whether or not you should reroll? For the most part, the game is very generous in providing you the necessary resources to get just about all the shipgirls, so there is no real need to do so. That said, if there is a particular shipgirl you really want right off the bat, then feel free to do so. The time between each reroll is fairly minimal in any case.
The core of any good fleet is of course the shipgirls that populate it, and with already a considerable number of them in the game already, one would be hard pressed on deciding which of the best ones are, so here is a handly list of who to aim for:
Super Rare
Enterprise Illustrious
Belfast Hood
Takao
Elite
Saratoga Wichita
Queen Elizabeth Rodney
Cleveland Helena
Unicorn
Rare
Shouhou Brooklyn
Portland Suffolk
Phoenix Leipzig
Pennsylvania
While it is very tempting to go for the Super Rares, you are going to need duplicates or limit break them in order to get them to their full potential. As such, Elite and Rare shipgirls will do the brunt of the work as they are easier to get fully operational.
Moving on, the game does a fine job telling you what to do next, so clear the tutorial with any of the three starters they give you. It doesn’t matter which as they’re all on par in ability.
Eventually you will reach a point where the game leaves you to your own devices, and this is when the game really starts. First off all, you will want to power level in 1-4 until your shipgirls hit the level 30 mark or at least somewhere which you are comfortable with before proceeding to Chapter 2.
Once you are able to clear much of this chapter without difficulty, start grinding out 2-4 until you feel you are strong enough to tackle the next chapter. As always, be sure to upgrade some of your equipment as this will start mattering when you take on the more difficult sorties.
When your fleet is up to task, 3-4 is a great map to grind in as not only will it grant you a lot of experience, there is a chance you will be able to get Akagi and Kaga as drops. The aircraft carrier sisters are some of the best in the game, so you will definitely want them in your fleet as early as you possibly can.
