Over the week, Avatar: Reckoning has been revealed to be an upcoming mobile MMORPG shooter based on the titular Avatar series, the one with blue people. Its official website is currently barebones, where interested parties can sign up for email updates. Parties involved include Lightstorm Entertainment, Archosaur Games, Level Infinite (Tencent’s label) and 20th Century Studios.
Presently, Avatar: Reckoning will come with the typical MMORPG trappings, where you’ll be able to create your own character and interact with the Na’vi, the inhabitants of Pandora. There will be content to suit however you’d like to play, including single player, cooperative and PVP modes. The game will be built on Unreal Engine 4, promising “state of the art” visuals for mobile devices.
Planned to release in 2022, combat colonialism in “dynamic and innovative” battles. This seems to be capitalizing on building the hype for the upcoming Avatar movies, besides Ubisoft’s first-person, action adventure Frontiers of Pandora also in the works. Archosaur Games’ previous titles have been Dragon Raja, and upcoming MMORPG Noah’s Heart that ran a beta test late 2021, so they do have experience in these large scope titles.
It’s still relatively early in the year, with the website not having any links to socials either at time of writing, so definitely stay tuned for something more concrete in time.
