au Smart Pass Premium to include Capcom classics

Users subscribed to the au Smart Pass Premium service will be able to enjoy selected Capcom classics in the au Smart Pass Premium Classic Games line-up. The au Smart Pass Premium service is a Japanese service providing subscription plans for a variety of entertainment, with handy run-downs of prices and their services available in English here. Actually subscribing to it is still only Japanese, but it exists.

Anyway, the Capcom classics to be added to the au Smart Pass Premium Classic Games library has begun with Street Fighter II: Champion Edition, otherwise also known as Street Fighter II Dash Plus. In June, scheduled to be added sequentially, you’ll be able to get Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers, Ghouls’N Ghosts and Strider Hiryu.

This is pretty much similar to something like Apple Arcade or the Nintendo Switch Online NES / SNES library. For international fans, Street Fighter IV Champion Edition is available for mobile, if you’re interested. Considering these games have been prior localized, it’ll be pretty nice if Capcom can bring it over to globally as paid titles and not exclusive to a region-specific game pass, but that will likely have to depend on licensing issues. Keep an eye out regardless.
