As the second half of the Final Season of Attack on Titan begins, SiM, the artist who made in the new series’ opening theme is now moving to a new label.
The new opening song by SiM is called ‘The Rumbling’, a fitting name considering the series is at least in part about fights between giants. The lead vocalist of the alternative metal band, MAH said that he tailored the lyrics to fit the most recent developments in the anime after reading through the manga.
“The world of Attack on Titan is already complete with the many great songs that have been created so far. With the utmost love and respect, I think we have succeeded in presenting a new world with SiM’s unique approach while inheriting a certain tradition and lineage. We hope that fans of our work will enjoy the lyrics as well.” MAH about Attack on Titan on the SiM website.
At the same time, SiM announced that they would be moving their label from Universal Music Japan to record company Pony Canyon. The reasons for this change have not been given.
The name SiM apparently stands for Silence iz Mine. They are a three-man metal band that has seen various members come and go through the years. They have previously performed themes for other anime including the opening themes of Rage of Bahamut titled ‘Existence’ and ‘Let it End’.
Attack on Titan The Final Season has begun airing on the 10th of January 2022 for both Japanese and international audiences.
