ATLUS recently celebrated the completion of Metaphor: ReFantazio during the World Metaphor Summit at the Club eX at the Shinagawa Prince Hotel, marking the end of development for their upcoming JRPG. The event, hosted by Mafia Kajita and Tomomi Isomura, began with a performance by Keisuke Honryo, chief priest of Myojoji in Kanagawa.
Key figures from the development team were present, including director Katsura Hashino, character designer Shigenori Soejima, and composer Shoji Meguro. Hashino expressed gratitude to fans and discussed the challenges of creating a fantasy world. Soejima spoke about balancing contemporary and fantasy designs, while Meguro reflected on the lengthy development process and the unique challenge of composing music based on the game’s Esperanto language.
In addition, the event featured a live showcase of the game’s “journey” trial version, which offers approximately 3 to 4 hours of gameplay. The full game will include multiple races, classes, and cooking mechanics. Cosplayers Kokoro Shinozaki, Sutanmi, and Billy brought characters from the game to life, and will make appearances at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show. Furthermore, merchandise including magnetic bookmarks and goodie bags will be available.
Additional announcements during the World Metaphor Summit included a manga adaptation, an SH Figuarts action figure of the main character, and collectibles from Kotobukiya and Nendoroid series. Moreover, a playable demo will be available for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC via Steam. Additionally, for more information, fans can visit the official ATLUS website, Facebook page, and YouTube channel.
