For those who travel or work abroad often, you will probably want a light-weight and good-looking laptop to bring around other than just a laptop with great performance. ASUS ZenBook Flip S is currently the slimmest convertible laptop on the market now, and we are lucky to be able to try it out so here is our ASUS ZenBook Flip S review!
What is in the box
The ZenBook‘s package is featuring a generous collection of items including the basic ones – the laptop itself, USB-C charger, Quick Start Guide along with the accessories – a black leather sleeve, a stylus pen and an all-in-one USB-C Universal Dock (you don’t need to buy them separately!)
ZenBook Flip S inherits the elegant design of the ZenBook Series. The model we get is the stunning Royal Blue model, which comes with an all-metal unibody and beautiful gold accents. Instead of placing the fingerprint scanner on the touchpad (like most of the laptops out there), the fingerprint scanner of ZenBook Flip S is located on the right side of the laptop.
As I mentioned earlier, ZenBook Flip S is ultra-thin and light with only 10.9mm and 1.1kg so you can bring it anywhere effortlessly. It is made from the premium, aerospace-grade aluminium too, which further reduce its weight but is 50% stronger than the other laptops.

Features
The biggest feature of ZenBook Flip S will be the new 360° ErgoLift hinge, which it enables you to switch the laptop into any mode you like without any hassle. No matter you are using it as a laptop, a tablet or set it up like a tent, the display will be securely held.
Talking about the display, the ZenBook Flip S comes with 13.3 inches Full HD display. The colours look vibrant on it, but not bright enough (compared to the other laptops). The display also allows touchscreen and you could use the stylus pen to draw on it or write down your ideas instantly.
The keyboard is having a gorgeous golden backlit and 1mm key travel. Some like it flat but for me, it has been giving me shallow typing experience (however it somewhat gives out a Macbook feel). While for the touchpad, it is precise and smooth, great at picking up movement and pinch-to-zoom gestures too.
On the performance aspect, ASUS ZenBook Flip S equips an Intel Core i7-7500U processor and 8GB RAM so performing daily tasks will totally not be a problem. Multitasking is also handled perfectly without any lagging.
The battery life will last up to 11 hours under regular usage, but if you are a heavy user, the battery might run out even within 8 hours. The good news is, it supports fast-charging where you could charges up 60% of battery in just 49 minutes.
Gaming Experience
Unfortunately, ZenBook Flip S couldn’t run most of the computer games on the market now (not even Dota 2). However, you can still enjoy Android games using BlueStacks. We tested the laptop with a few performance-demanding mobile game such as Honkai Impact 3, Arena of Valor and Final Fantasy Awakening, the result turns out great – all of them runs seamlessly.
Conclusion
Despite the flaws in battery life and gaming, the ASUS ZenBook Flip S is a solid choice for those who need to bring their laptop around. Not to mention the great looking design that will turn heads wherever you go and the 2-in-1 convertible features that enables you to perform various tasks.
ASUS ZenBook Flip S is priced at RM6,699 (about 1628 in USD). If you are interested, you can visit the official website or Lazada for more information.
