With the revolutionary smartphone for gaming by Razer, Xiaomi had also brought their technology with Black Shark to bring us another gaming smartphone into the market. However there has also been rumors of another contender that’s coming into the market back in March of an ASUS ROG gaming smartphone that could be revealed during the MWC 2018. Though ASUS revealed their ZenFone 5 instead, a smartphone dedicated for gaming by ASUS may not be just a rumor or be branded under ROG.
ASUS has been manufacturing smartphones of all tiers that some of them could just rival the specifications of a gaming phone. Take for example the ZenFone 5z that was introduced earlier during the MWC 2018. It has specs that rival both the Razer Phone and the Xiaomi Black Shark with Qualcomm SDM845 Snapdragon 845, Octa-core (4×2.7 GHz Kryo 385 Gold & 4×1.7 GHz Kryo 385 Silver), 8GB RAM/ 256GB ROM and Adreno 630. So even if ASUS decided not to make a dedicated smartphone for gaming branded under ROG, the ZenFone 5z could easily be categorized as a gaming smartphone along those that are already in the market.
Though these are just speculations, there has been information regarding ASUS’s plans on making a smartphone dedicated for gaming. It may not necessarily be branded under ROG as interviews with Jerry Shen did confirm that a gaming phone can be “expected”. With their recent release of the ZenFone 5 series, they are already in the works of coming up with a new ZenFone line in the second quarter of 2018. Looking at the common specifications in a gaming phone, if you loved the ASUS ZenFone lineups, then the ZenFone 5z is one that can satisfy your photography and gaming needs.
