ASUS ROG announces Strix SCAR II (GL704) with 17.3″ display, Intel Core i7 and NVIDIA GTX 1060

ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) previously released the 15.6-inch Strix SCAR II and Hero II (GL504) that introduced the ultrafast display panel with super-narrow bezels, and we are impressed by it. Continuing the trend, ASUS ROG announced Strix SCAR II (GL704) with an even bigger display and powerful features.

The new Strix SCAR II (GL704) is the first 17.3-inch laptop under 400mm wide thanks to the super-narrow bezels surrounding the display. Same as its predecessor, it features an impressive 144Hz refresh rate and 3ms response time. The full sRGB colour gamut also allows the screen to show a full range of vivid colours so the games could look as good as it is meant to be.

Designed for FPS gaming, Strix Scar II comes with a contrasting Kevlar and camouflage-textured design as well as Aura Sync RGB lighting that can be customized across its seven lighting zones. While on the keyboard, it has a desktop-style layout to offer a comfortable typing feel.

For the performance part, it is powered by the Intel Core i7-8750H processor with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 / 1070 so you could expect a seamless and enjoyable gaming experience on it. It features up to 32GB DDR4 RAM, 802.11ac Wave 2 Wi-Fi, 4K UHD and G-SYNC outputs too. Other than that, the HyperCool Pro cooling system presents to provide a superb cooling performance.

Along with the announcement of Strix SCAR II (GL704), ASUS introduces Armoury Crate, the unified platform that puts the most important settings at gamers’ fingertips. Aside from covering system settings and Aura Sync lighting, you can customize your preferences for specific games or application then save them up. There is a Mobile Dashboard allowing remote monitoring and adjustment from your mobile devices as well.
