ASUS ROG has announced a special Strix SCAR 17 gaming laptop with ultrafast 300 Hz / 3ms display and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER GPU and 17.3-inch display, helping professional esports players get every edge they need when they compete.
Unrivaled graphics
Ultra-high-refresh rate, special GPU and upgraded cooling with ROG Boost, taking GPU clock speeds up to 1560 MHz at full 150 watts in Turbo mode, you can be sure you can get every advantage at the highest level of esports. The latest series of GeForce RTX GPUs use the revolutionary Turing architecture, combining CUDA, RT and Tensor cores to cover programmable shading, real-time ray tracing and artificial intelligence for the best look games can get.
Ultrafast 300 Hz display
An amazing GPU needs a display to match, with the ROG Strix SCAR 17 capable of 300 Hz refresh rates with a quick 3 ms grey-to-trey response time for minimizing motion blur, enabling precise target tracking. The 17.3-inch screen seems even larger thanks to super-narrow bezels for a more immersive view. A 81.5% screen-to-body ratio lets players get an impressive view of the field in a device with a surprisingly small footprint.
Latest-generation power
With gamers’ machines used to multitask more and more from streaming to game design, the ROG Strix SCAR 17 ensures it can do it all with the latest 10th Generation Intel Core i9-10980-HK CPU. Its 8-core processor pushes frequencies as high as 5.3 GHz with a single core, spinning up to 16 parallel threads to blaze through heavy work.
Pair this with up to 32GB dual-channel DDR4-3200 memory, compared to the stock 2933 Hz memory speed for this generation of CPUs, and find your machine even more responsive than ever!
Upgradable storage
Two NVM Express SSDs run in RAID 0 to minimize load times, with space for a third SSD to add even more space to the total capacity. The ROG Strix SCAR 17 makes adding memory and storage easy with a design that puts the SO-DIMM and M.2 slots behind the bottom panel. It’s held in place with standard Philips screws, and a special pop-open screw pushes the bottom corner away from the chassis for easy removal. The surrounding hooks holding the edges together are smaller and stronger, letting users lift off the panel without scuffing the body.
Cooling boosted by liquid metal
With four heatsinks for a total of 284 headsink fins, the total surface area for thermal dissipation is now 178,125 mm2, with the chassis also raised 1.4mm to accommodate the more robust cooling module. The liquid metal thermal compound is applied with a patented automated process, alongside the special internal fence designed to contain any leakage that may occur over time. This compound allows more sustain of the 5.3 GHz single-core frequency with less strain on the cooling system, also keeping noise levels below 50 dB in Turbo mode.
Two special liquid-crystal polymer n-Blade fans draw in more air. An extended heat spreader and six heatpipes absorb and distribute thermal energy from the CPU, GPU and VRM supplying them with power. There’s a self-cleaning module to maintain long-term stability, and anti-dust tunnels expel incoming particles.
The ROG CoolZone has strategic vents around the WASD keys to reduce surface temperature by up to 14% compared to competing designs. Utilize the multiple modes or set custom Scenario Profiles in the ROG Armoury Crate and switch them around with a simple keyboard shortcut as needed for your cooling needs.
Inspired by a collaboration with BMW Designworks Group, the Strix SCAR 17 has visually pleasing features that are also advantageous to airflow: unrestricted airflow with a trapezoidal cut below the display, and scissor-door hinges on the back for heavily ventilated 3D Flow Zone.
Deep personalization
The new ROG Keystone II provides even deeper personalization, linking quick commands and other functions to oa physical, NFC-enabled key thata docks into the side of the chassis. The Keystone can launch a specific operating mode, the Armoury Crate game library or app or game of choice. Removing one can instantly activate stealth m ode that minimizes apps or mutes audio, or logs out of Windows. With the Cloud Profile function, it restores personalized preferences associated with a ROG ID to make compatible devices more familiar. With Keystone II, users can even reveal a secret Shadow Drive for covert storage with additional encryption with Windows 10 Pro.
Expressive RGB lighting
Aura Sync accents add RGB shine to the ROG Strix SCAR 17 with the wraparound light bar glowing under the front and side edges to complement the backlit ROG logo on the lid. Coordinate colours and effects with all Aura Sync devices! Control it with ROG Aura Creator that includes per-key customization and complex effects. Customize it further with Scenario Profiles!
A keyboard tailored for gaming
The spacious, desktop-style layout for the keyboard makes everyday use more comfortable. The palm rests has soft-touch paint to minimize smudges and fingerprints, with a thin, textured coating to make extended play more comfortable and is resilient to last.
Dedicated hotkeys put volume and microphone mute within easy reach. Overstroke technology can provide faster response for gaming, Full N-Key rollover ensures simultaneous keypresses are registered precisely. Each keyboard has switches rated to last 20 million presses.
Heavy duty portable power
Game on at LAN speeds on compatible networks with ultrafast Intel WiFi 6 (Gig+ / 802.11ax) for speed, efficiency and better connection on crowded networks, simultaneously reducing latency. To maintain that signal, the ROG Strix SCAR 17 has ROG RangeBoost technology, picking the best pair using four internal antennas depending on environment. Range is increased by up to 30% to reduce dead zones and improve signal stability.
Wired access is possible with the Gigabit Ethernet Jack. For peripherals, there’s the USB 3.2 Type C for transfers at Gen 2 speeds, DisplayPort 1.4 compatibility for external G-SYNC monitor, HDMI 2.0b for 4K UHD monitor or TV up to 60 Hz and 3 USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type A ports.
Last but not least is the 3.5 mm audio combo port for your favourite headset. Side-firing speakers have smart-amplifier technology that makes real-time adjustments and monitors audio output to keep speakers within thermal and excursion limits to prevent cone damage. The resulting sound has less distortion, more dynamic range, heavier bass, and significantly higher potential output.
