Multimedia franchise Assault Lily is getting its own manga, complete with its own story more than a year after the launch of the franchise’s mobile game and anime.
Titled Assault Lily Last Bullet: Sweet Garden Sweet Memoria, the manga will be based off of the mobile game and feature a look into the everyday lives of the Yurigaoka Lillies.
The story will be penned by franchise creator Ken’ei Obanazawa, and feature interiors by Minori Chigusa.
Assault Lily as a franchise has been the odd one out among the IPs in Bushiroad’s stable- while the anime had some success in 2020, the mobile game has yet to get an international release.
That being said, it’s not like Bushiroad isn’t supporting it, as Assault Lily is one of the featured IPs at last year’s Bushiroad Expo.
The addition of a manga also completes Bushiroad’s typical formula for multimedia franchises, since it now has an anime, a mobile game, a gag anime and now a manga, just like other series such as Revue Starlight.
The series has its roots in a series of posable dolls, featuring cute anime girls called Lillies and giant mechanical weapons called CHARMS.
It also plays heavily into Yuri tropes, most notably the prestigious girl’s school with everything from having monogamous pairings for the characters and the ever-so subtle pairing name of the main characters literally spelling YuRi.
