Ubisoft have announced Assassin’s Creed Infinity, an upcoming project that represents a bold new step for the historical stealth action games.
According to Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier, Assassin’s Creed Infinity will be a live service, eschewing the typical single-setting of Assassin’s Creed games in favor of multiple settings the player can explore.
That being said, he says details are subject to change, as the project won’t be due out until 2024.
Ubisoft has seemingly made their announcement in response to Schreier’s news, although they have not confirmed nor denied the release date or gameplay features of the game.
Joint Development On Assassin’s Creed Infinity
Instead, however, they announced that Assassin’s Creed Infinity would be shaking up how they develop the Assassins’ Creed franchise going forward. Previously, the Assassin’s Creed games were handled by alternating studios, meaning that each of Ubisoft’s branches, Ubisoft Montreal and Ubisoft Quebec, would take turns developing the next big Assassin’s Creed titles.
However, Ubisoft confirmed that Infinity would take a new co-development approach, with people from both studios helming key leadership roles for the project.
This includes Marc-Alexis Côté from Ubisoft Quebec, who was a founding member of that studio and worked on Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, Syndicate and Odyssey. He’s also joined by Senior producer Julien Laferrière of Ubisoft Montreal, who has been working on Assassin’s Creed since 2007. He also worked on the most recent release, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
