If you’ve always been wanting a “proper” crossover between the Assassin’s Creed games, now’s the time with Assassin’s Creed Crossover Stories. Along with the preview of Valhalla‘s upcoming expansion, Dawn of Ragnarok, Ubisoft gave us an introduction to this new, FREE, cross-game event with Clémence Nogrix, Creative Director from Ubisoft Quebec, presenting.
See the Ragnarok preview with José Araiza and Mariana Gosteva here.
Now, crossovers aren’t that new to the series, as seen in Revelations and Embers. Assassin’s Creed Crossover Stories differs in that these will be different stories exploring the ties between the games’ respective heroes. This instalment features Odyssey and Valhalla, with Kassandra meeting Eivor in a new, thrilling, and perhaps unusual side-story. Besides the stories themselves, unique environments and two new islands become your next stomping grounds.
The pitch is simple, consisting of two questions: “What will Kassandra do with the rest of her immortal life?” and “What happens when two Assassin’s Creed heroes meet?”
“Those Who Are Treasured” is the first story, playable in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, followed by “A Fated Encounter” in Valhalla. Requirements to unlock the stories are:
- “Those Who Are Treasured” in Odyssey
- Complete Chapter 1
- Reach Megaris
- Recommended to finish the main game’s story arcs (Family, Cult of Kosmos and Mythology) to avoid spoilers
- “A Fated Encounter” in Valhalla
- Settlement Level 4
- Complete “A Wise Friend” quest, where Valka gets established in Ravensthorpe
Both these stories will be free for owners of their respective base games, available 14 December 2021.
“A Fated Encounter” will be where Kassandra and Eivor meet, and cross blades. While they may start out as enemies, they will team up when they realize an Isu Artifact is in play. The story is simultaneously a collaborative effort between Ubisoft Quebec and Ubisoft Montreal, for in- and out-of-universe ‘crossover’ as it were.
You can play the stories with your protagonist of choice e.g. Alexios / Kassandra in Odyssey, or either Eivor in Valhalla. However, in “A Fated Encounter”, you are fixed to meet Kassandra.
