Ubisoft has just put up Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China for free on the Ubisoft Store until 5 February 2019.
As one of the few Assassin’s Creed games that doesn’t take place in Europe or the Americas, Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China is part of a trilogy of Chronicles games which boast a new setting and Assassin. Its protagonist Shao Jun trained under the one and only Ezio Auditore da Firenze, who you may recognise from Assassin’s Creed 2. Returning to her homeland, Shao Jun has to take on a group of Templars known as the Eight Tigers.
Giving away games has become a standard practice for Ubisoft on its storefront, a move which serves to entice players away from Steam. With Epic Games starting its own store, competition will only become stiffer. Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China is a solid game in its own right and somewhat different take on a formula the series has so finely tuned throughout the years.
