Resetera user Red Liquorice might have just leaked that From Software is working on Armored Core 6, via a survey.
According to the post, Liquorice was privy to a marketing survey which included short gameplay footage featuring some pretty common hallmarks of the Armored Core series.
“The boss fight looked quite Soulsy – the long range gunfire reminded me of Virtua On, that’s my frame of reference, I’m not a mech fan and haven’t played any AC games. The player character in a white mech went in close to the bigger robot boss and fought with like an energy or laser sword, this looked Souls-style”, they said.
While the game itself was never explicitly called Armored Core 6 or even Armored Core, it’s hard to believe From Software wouldn’t just make a new Armored Core game if they wanted to.
Of course, it’s important to take this with a huge pinch of salt- Red Liquorice has done nothing to verify why they would have privileged information, because their basic story seems to be that From Software seemingly just dropped information about an upcoming title in their inbox without signing some sort of NDA first.
“If this isn’t ok to post, mods please edit this – I don’t want to get anyone (including myself) in to trouble, but I was pretty amazed to be watching footage of an upcoming From Soft game randomly this morning, quite unexpected!!”, they write, emphasis our own.
UPDATE: Red Liquorice has uploaded screenshots of the new title, though edited to remove a unique ID watermark.
Armored Core is From Software’s premier mecha game, having been one of their largest titles prior to the advent of the Souls series.
While it’s been a hot minute since we’ve seen an Armored Core game, there have been spiritual successors in the form of Daemon Ex Machina on the Nintendo Switch.
