Mobile analyst website AppMagic revealed the top 10 Hypercasual Games of Q2 2023 and what these numbers could mean for recent mobile gaming trends.
This comes via a recent study in collaboration with the game developers Homa Games and Playducky. Here are the results:
AppMagic notes that several popular hypercasual titles return from previous lists for Q2 2023 including Bridge Race, Going Balls, Race Master 3D – Car Racing, and Car Games 3D: Car Racing. New games that have reached the top ten include the arcade maze-style Tomb of The Mask which reached over 27 million installs over the second quarter and the rhythm game Piano Star: Tap Music Tiles which has achieved over 25.7 million installs.
One conclusion from these new releases is that many new popular titles are heavily inspired by older games with Tomb of The Mask having similarities to Pac-Man and Paino Star with the rhythm game Tiles Hop: EDM Rush as well as games that integrate social media or feature a hybrid of genres.
“All these games are flourishing with their tens of millions of downloads, which yet again goes to show that all of those methods can be exploited to your advantage—as long as handled wisely, of course”.
Looking at general market trends, they’ve also found that the hypercasual mobile market has decreased by about 5% from Q1 of 2023 to Q2 of 2023, shrinking from 3.9 billion installs to 3.7 in the past three months although drops between Q1 and Q2 have been consistent with previous findings over past years.
