Apex Legends Season 20 Breakout will be bringing in a plethora of content, from Legend upgrades, Ranked updates, and the 5th Anniversary Collection Event.
Legends Upgrades
Players in Season 20 will hit different with the Legend Upgrades, which is an in-match progression system.
As players advance through EVO Shield tiers, they will select Ability Upgrades, tailoring their Legend to personal playstyles and demands of battle, which would result in a deeper meta where each match is a chance to try fresh strategies.
Ranked Updates
Season 20 will see Ranked games be shifted to a high-risk, high-reward system that incentivizes combat. LP is now PR, with bonuses for kills, match placement, and outperforming higher-ranked squads.
Kicking off this new structure, all player’s Ranked progress will be set to 1RP and Provisional matches will be disabled, meaning that everyone will start their climb from scratch.
Matchmaking will be based on your RP, so players will be matched with more players in their Ranked Tier, and to amp up the competition further, Ranked Splits have been reintroduced in favour of the now removed Promotion Trials.
The entry point for Ranked matches has been lowered to Level 20 accounts, widening the Ranked player pool, and letting players squad up with more friends.
Breakout Rewards
Every two weeks, a new Legend becomes free-to-play for the rest of the season, with the lineup featuring Fuse, Seer, Rampart, Mad Maggie, Loba, and Valkyrie, each with a unique set of challenges.
Players can complete them before the season ends to permanently unlock that Legend, on top of cosmetic rewards, Battle Pass Stars, and gifts for their friends.
New Mixtape Map – Thunderdome
New to Mixtape is Thuderdome, which is modernized with killer upgrades to make Legends known across the Outlands and beyond, players can hit the Mixtape Playlist for Gun Run, Team Deathmatch and Control in new POIs.
5th Anniversary Collection Event
Coming with the 5th Anniversary Collection Event is Straight Shot, a fast-paced LTM where 10 squads drop into predetermined POIs, next to fully-kitted guns and enemy squads ready for action.
Speeding up the battle are fast ring rounds, no Jumpmasters, a smaller map and the ability to re-queue without ever hitting the lobby. Players’ XP is also going into Overdrive with 1.5X all XP earned toward their Account Level during the event.
