We could be seeing Apex Legends for the mobile become a reality at last, if Electronic Arts sticks to its plan of launching it in the upcoming four months. The new comes by way of Blake Jorgensen, CFO for EA during its quarterly earnings call.
The game was supposedly meant to come out in 2020, but was since delayed. Much of it remains a mystery however, though any information is very much welcome, as it would appear that the port is still being developed and is close to being ready.
Yes. So I’ll start with Apex and then Andrew may want to jump on, on FIFA. So on Apex, clearly, as you said, Japan is the second-largest market for Apex, which is very exciting for us. And we know that it’s one of the largest markets for the Nintendo Switch.
And that’s the reason we decided to put it out on Nintendo Switch. But we also know that Nintendo Switch is a global business, not just a Japanese business. We think the combination of Nintendo Switch, Apex plus mobile Apex will be very powerful. We believe mobile Apex will be in soft launch sometime in the next three to four months and hopefully gets into the marketplace quickly.
As noted in the statement, there is actually a Nintendo Switch version too, so if you have it, you can give it a spin when it releases on 9 March 2021. In case you are wondering why, that is because Apex Legends is insanely popular in Japan, so a port to the biggest console there in terms of share market only makes sense.
