AniManGaki, one of the largest local anime and gaming conventions has announced AniManGaki Online 2021, the online counterpart to their popular conventions.
The announcement was made via Facebook, where the organizers had posted the details along with a link to the event page for the upcoming convention.
Animangaki Online 2021 will take place August 6th to August 22nd, and will consist of virtual events for attendees to watch and take part in.
Here’s the list of upcoming features fans can look forward to at the virtual event:
- Special Guests
- Music Performances
- Vote: Competitions
- Panel/Workshop/Game Show
- Art & Exhibitor Marketplace
- Fighting Games Tournament
- Esports
The organizers haven’t gone into specifics yet, though you can expect them to make more announcements closer to the event’s release.
The Art and Exhibitor marketplace will be a great way to support local artists, who haven’t been able to attend conventions for the second year in a row now thanks to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, which is keeping conventions online-only for the second year in a row.
That being said, they haven’t announced how to apply for this year’s virtual Art and Exhibitor’s Marketplace.
Like every year, Animangaki organizes a theme for their annual convention. This year the theme is the beach, with the convention mascot Kei-Chan sporting beach-themed looks.
Performances, Cosplay And More
Before the Covid-19 pandemic, AniManGaki was one of the big annual conventions, alongside Comic Fiesta as some of the tentpole events for the year. In 2019 the convention famously hosted Yoko Taro and Takahisa Taura, who came to Malaysia to present a panel on Nier: Automata.
The convention was also the site of various musical performances, as well as its own talent show, Animangaki’s Got Talent.
While it’s still not safe yet to hold a physical event, it’s great to see that the organizers are giving the community something to look forward to, even if they can still only attend virtually.
