Following the failure of Pokemon GO Fest in Chicago, about two dozen Pokemon GO Fest attendees are filing lawsuits against the developer of Pokemon GO, Niantic for travel reimbursement.
If you wonder what happened to last weekend’s event, the game (Pokemon GO) faced technical issues from too much cell traffic, leaving angry attendees and an early end time. Everyone waited for hours in line just to get in the festival (some flew from other countries to get there) and found out they can’t even log in the game. This means they are unable to catch rare Pokemon or challenge the first Legendary Pokemon as what Niantic promised.
Although Niantic offers full refund ($100 in-game credit, legendary Pokémon Lugia and $20 refund) for every ticket holders after the event, for people who travelled far from their countries, these are not enough. The claimants say that the event failed to meet their expectations, thus asking for compensation on their money spent on travel.
For now, the only response from Niantic says they won’t comment on pending legal matters. Hope the case ends in the way that everybody is happy with it.
