The two founders of miHoYo escaped tragedy when an angry fan attempted to break into the miHoYo campus to attack them with a knife, following controversy over Honkai Impact 3rd‘s 3rd anniversary event.
According to Red Star News, the police have yet to officially announce the incident to the public, and all current information regarding the incident comes from netizens familiar with the area’s reports.
The attacker reportedly threatened the company that he would come to kill its founders with a knife before killing himself, however he was arrested on the spot when he reached the campus. It’s a relief the Honkai Impact -related attack was stopped so early, and no one appears to have been hurt.
The Bunny Girl Situation
The attack follows a controversial Honkai lmpact 3rd anniversary event, which featured the action game’s protagonists dressed in Bunny Girl outfits dancing to a song by Myth & Roid. Following some fan backlash about the video being “out of character”, miHoYo had issued an apology on Twitter, also taking down the video.
“We recently received feedback on the GLB 3rd-anniversary story event and promotional video featuring bunny girl designs and dance moves that were out of character and inappropriate. We sincerely apologize for these issues”, the statement reads.
Fans had also taken issue with one of the in-game upgrades, Yae Sakura: Peaches (B), which miHoYo said they would also amend in a future update. The card’s art also features the aforementioned bunny girl outfit.
