We already know that a video game based on the Upin & Ipin animated series has been in the works for a while now, and an update for the title was shared recently.
Today, Burhanuddin Md Radzi, managing direcotr of Les’ Copaque Production, the studio behind the popular Malaysian cartoon, shared on Facebook that a test version of the Upin & Ipin video game was sent to their office for testing.
In the same post, he also noted that the project will be completed by October 2024 and aims for a release in the first quarter of 2025 as the company awaits the publisher’s approval.
The game is described as a family-friendly title targeted for all ages and will be available for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
It began development last year with Streamline Studios commissioned to handle the project with all staff involved based in Malaysia as they worked closely with the teams at Les’ Copaque Production.
“This project is an exciting venture in the gaming world, as it is based on a popular TV series,” Burhanuddin Md Radzi said in his post.
“We are hopeful that this game will put Malaysia on the map in the gaming world. We are optimistic that this project will be successful and will be a source of pride for Malaysia.”
Previously, news outlet Bernama reported that the Upin & Ipin video game was in development, as managing director Burhanuddin Md Radzi noted that his company Les’ Copaque Production has invested RM15 million for the production.
