SEGA has introduced the new J-League mode to SEGA Pocket Club Manager recently to offer a new challenge to both new and veteran players. We did an interview with the producers of SEGA Pocket Club Manager, Nobuchika Miyazaki and Riichiro Yamada to talk about the football RPG. Read below for more details on the game and the new mode!
Pocket Club Manager powered by Football Manager allows players to own and manage a Football club. As you progress from local professional clubs to national teams, you can enjoy various events such as “story of each football players”, “acquiring first-class director” and “become national team’s manager”. The game focuses more on club management with scenarios instead of simulation aspects, and this is why it is categorised into the RPG genre for the global market.
The modes available in the game now are Road to World (main game mode), J League mode, World Tour, SWCC (PvP tournament) and limited time events. You can enjoy these modes alone, or train your club to participate in the PvP tournament. According to the producers, many overseas players are joining the SWCC too and it is growing globally. They hope Malaysia players would participate to compete against players around the world as well.
As you might not know, the game comes with an interesting Footie Face feature where you can create players using a photo of yourself or others. There are no limits on the number of unique players you can create, but their positions are randomly selected at the time of creation. Sometimes you may even create funny face players with high rarity! The feature could help improve relationships so you should enjoy it with your friends and family.
From December 13, players can enjoy the new J. League mode in Pocket Club Manager. It is an independent club management mode different from Road to World mode. It is also a mode that many fans asked for, as the game has the roots in “SakaTsuku” series (console) and has evolved alongside with the evolvement of the J. League.
Starting your journey from J3 division in the J. League, your aim is to become the champion in the J1 division. You will be able to transfer (rent) your teammates from the Road to World as a player in your J. League team. You can also acquire unique players enlisted in J. League (including the SEA players) and balance them out using the club funds you have. Some popular Europe players will be available to collect as well, which you can then use them at the Road to World mode.
Gladfully, those who are new to the game can also enjoy the new J. League mode. The starting conditions are the same for all players and as your club will gradually grow, it is not necessary to transfer all your strong players to your J. League team. However you will still need to progress the game to a certain stage to unlock the mode.
J. League is separated into a few division, where you will move up or down depending on your seasonal ranking. The top 2 teams will be promoted to the upper division, while the bottom 2 teams will be demoted to the lower division when a season ends. With this system, players will be able to compete against different club every season. The player who crowned champion in J1 will receive unique ★5 players as a reward (usable in Road to World mode), so fight your way up the ranks!
We are curious about the future new game contents, and the producers reply to us saying that they will continue to implement new contents and update to enrich the gameplay experience. You may put your hopes up for more new features or events in the near future!
Lastly, here are some words from the producers to the fans of SEGA Pocket Club Manager in Malaysia:
I hope all the Malaysia player will enjoy playing J. League mode. In J. League mode we offer different club management from mainstream “Road to World mode”. You can fully use J. League mode as a place to train your players and enjoy a successful experience of club management to aim for J. League’s top. This game mode is themed on the professional football league in Japan, but if we have an opportunity we will consider doing it for another league too.
