An interview with the producer of SHIN MEGAMI TENSEI Liberation Dx2 – Furuichi Norio

First released in Japan this January, SHIN MEGAMI TENSEI Liberation Dx2 has finally got its global release last month. Have you enjoyed the game? We are lucky to be invited for a short interview with Furuichi Norio, the producer of SHIN MEGAMI TENSEI Liberation Dx2 for more details on the future plans and game features. Without further ado, check out what he has told us below!

The difference and similarities between the Japanese version and the Global version

The first thing we ask is about the difference and similarities between the Japanese version and the Global version. Furuichi tells us that they would want both the version to be the same, but they are also considering about adding new features according to the needs and trends from the global players.

About demon archetypes

Unfortunately, there is no other way to change the demon archetypes (for now and in the future), we could only create new demons with different types of archetypes by Demon fusion.

Upcoming Game Contents

The game story is now at chapter 6, and we are glad to know that there will be more chapters being added to the game soon (which it may include some surprising and exciting plots). They are planning to expand its feature such as co-op elements too, but since the game is still new, they would like to perfect the game first before adding in any additional elements.

Regarding the plan to expand the roster of demons or player characters, Furuichi tells us that they may add new demons to the game on a regular basis in the near future. While for new players characters, they are still considering about it so no plan for it yet. They are also working hard to implement more social elements, and they hope to add the guild feature to the game as soon as they can.

AR gameplay

As most of us knew, the original SMT’s worldview is “digital devil comes alive in reality”. The AR function closely matched the idea, they wanted to make that happen. However, since they would like players to experience the depth of the game, they couldn’t put the AR function in yet. The good news is, they will consider updating AR function in the future.

More language options

They are continuously thinking about adding more language options for the worldwide audience, but as the SMT series is well known for its unique worldview and storyline, they will need more time and effort to make everything right.

Possible Collaboration with related IPs or game series

Fans of Shin Megami Tensei series should have probably seen some collaboration between the series and other IPs such as the appearance of Devil May Cry’s Dante during the Shin Megami Tensei III era. We are curious about the possibilities of collaboration events with related IPs like Persona or other game series, and Furuichi teased us by saying that they did plan for something surprising. However, they can’t tell us the details yet. Guess we will get the details when the right time has arrived!

Anime series based on the story of SHIN MEGAMI TENSEI Liberation Dx2

Another good news from Furuichi is that an anime series based on the game story is definitely possible if SHIN MEGAMI TENSEI Liberation Dx2 gains a huge success. Hopefully we could watch the story on the bigger displays soon!
