Alice Gear Aegis will shut down its China server, a mere year into service. The game’s TapTap notice seems to indicate that negotiations with the copyright holder fell through in some manner. It would appear that transferring publishing rights is not part of the deal in this case, for whatever reason.
As such, Alice Gear Aegis will no longer be serviced in China on 21 April 2022. The game remains playable and any currency already paid for can be utilized. Any events and gacha will follow the original schedule. The game will be taken down from their respective app stores, disable purchases and new player registration, and the official website going offline on 17 March 2022. This will be followed by the game shut down on 21 April 2022, and all social channels will follow on 21 June 2022. Details regarding any refunds will be provided in time.
Fortunately, if you are a fan of the game, it’s still going strong in Japan. Alice Gear Aegis celebrated its fourth anniversary, and announced both an upcoming console game and anime in the works. Neither project has received an update since the initial announcement, but they do at least, exist in some capacity. Whether or not a worldwide release is possible, we’ll have to see.
