Nijisanji EN’s Alban Knox has said that he would be working with management to remove a most bizarre trend of impersonator streams using his name.
YouTube is facing a bizarre trend of channels seemingly having stolen one of Knox’s stream titles for their own streams, in an attempt to seemingly piggyback off the Vtuber’s success.
“Hey guys! I’ve noticed that there are some channels using my name without permission on their streams. I’m working with the ANYCOLOR management team to apply for deletion of this content. I’m sorry for the fans that have been worrying, thanks for your concern and your support!“, Knox says on his Twitter.
“Not gonna lie, this shit has really been stressing me out for some time. We’ll do our best to get to the bottom of it. Having my name associated with stuff like this makes me feel awful. I’m sorry to anyone who hasn’t been able to enjoy content because it’s buried under this crap“, he adds.
The video title seems to have been lifted from a particular Minecraft video by the Vtuber, with every video just using the MINECRAFT TALK AND CHILL title in their own videos.
These videos themselves are a bizarre trip- largely pre-recorded children-targeted videos featuring bright colors and weird sound effects.
Considering several of the videos were flagged under YouTube Kids and the fact that the videos themselves are all just pre-recorded videos, it seems very likely that there’s no actual human involved in this- rather just bots scraping to target content at a specific demographic.
Given the Vtuber’s popularity, there’s a good chance that his title was used simply because it was one of the highest ranking Minecraft videos, though that’s just speculation on our own part.
ANYCOLOR and Nijisanji haven’t released their own statements on the matter.
