KLP48, a new sister group of the idol musical girl group AKB48, which will be based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, has been announced.
Named after Kuala Lumpur, KLP48 will be the 10th sister group of AKB48 outside of Japan and will be composed of Malaysian members.
The 1st generation members of KLP48 have not been revealed yet and are set to debut in the Summer of 2024.
Details regarding future activities have also not been unveiled yet and will be announced on the idol group’s official website sometime in the future.
The establishment of the first sister group of AKB48 outside of Japan, JKT48, was 12 years ago in 2011 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Since then, many sister groups have been developed throughout Asia, including SNH48 in Shanghai, China, BNK48 in Bangkok, Thailand, MNL48 in Manila, Philippines, and many more, with 7 out of the 9 groups still remaining active today.
Along with the launch of KLP48, Nariaki Terada of Superball Inc. has also been announced to be appointed as the General Producer of the 48 sister groups outside of Japan.
As mentioned, Malaysia now has a new idol group in the form of KLP48, a sister group to the well-known idol girl group AKB48 and more information will be unveiled on its official website.
