Anime Festival Asia (AFA) has launched their Creators Super Fest at Singapore Expo Hall over the weekend on 22nd July till 23rd July 2023. With 4 major attractions within the event including the Creators Hub, Creators Lab, Cosplayer Hub, and the Super Akiba Stage, the event is filled with all sorts of exciting activities.
Ever since conventions are back in full force after the pandemic, the attendees come in huge numbers, with lengthy queues spanning from the entrance all the way to the Expo Hall next door. Despite having a large crowd, the event has the public’s safety as their top priority with security bag checkpoints being mandatory before entering the hall.
Regardless of how many times you re-enter the event, there will be security guards greeting you as they check every bad you’re carrying around. Not to mention, there’s also a huge medic area at the back of the hall in case of any emergencies, so attendees have a peace of mind while at the convention.
Going through the major attractions of AFA Creator Fest, the first one we went through was the Creators Hub. The hub has nearly 300 artist booths that were set-up, including booths vendors from Malaysia and other countries. Each booth were all unique in their own way, walking down each aisle you’ll be greeted by different art styles portrayed by each of the artists.
The Creators Hub was also the place where you’ll be able to find an abundance of merchandise from different franchises to even artist’s own original characters; successfully highlighting the tagline of “Where Creators Unite”.
Next on the list was the Creators Lab, which is a workshop where talented creators such as: Ying Tze, Krenz, Knite and others share their experiences to provide tips and advice for any up and coming creators. All of their workshops have one goal in mind, and that’s to inspire.
The Cosplay Hub is just like every other Cosplay booths you’d find in any conventions, long queues with loyal and dedicated fans waiting to meet famous cosplayers. Fans can meet, take photos, get their merchandise signed and express their gratitude to their favourite cosplayers.
Last but definitely not least would be the Super Akiba Stage which where all the hype is. Even though the stage was free to enter, it’s covered off by a large black cloth to isolate the stage. But even so, everyone in the Hall were able to hear what was exactly going on in there, either through the crowd’s lungs bursting cheering or from the amazing vocals from the performers.
Every performer on stage were top tier at their game and you really are able to feel the sheer energy from the crowd with their cheers echoing across the entire Expo Hall. The stage doesn’t only belong to performers, but to guest talks from the lovely Ladybeard, Illustrator showcases from LAM, Kureiji Ollie, Luis Esteves, and even some other special activities.
All in all, AFA Creators Super Fest 2023 was an overall enjoyable experience from start to end, with all the exciting activities available. From the various attractions bustling with all sorts of cool merchandise and famous cosplayers, to the hype stage performances, it was filled to the brim with cool and exhilarating events.
