Acer has announced that its suite of tools which enable Stereoscopic 3D Experiences will be expanded upon for SpatialLabs Developers.
This is to provide more avenues to develop glasses-free, stereoscopic 3D experiences on Acer SpatialLabs Pro devices.
The expansion of Developer tools include:
- Pro Suite Developer Program: Unity Plug-in
- Acer OpenXR Runtime
- Acer SteamVR Bridge
Pro Suite Developer Program: Unity Plug-in
With the launch of Acer’s support for the Unity plug-in, a wider range of creators can be reached across various fields which include education, architecture, construction, medicine and many more. As a widely used platform for creating 3D content and applications, more professional developers can take advantage of the Unity plug-in’s and allow them to present to present their models in 3D form on Acer SpatialLabs Pro Devices without the need for specialized glasses.
Acer OpenXR Runtime
SpatialLabs Pro devices are now conformant with OpenXR due to Acer successfully reaching conformance for its OpenXR Runtime. As a long-standing member and contributor of the Khronos OpenXR working group, Acer embraces open standards and aims to build an ecosystem that is accessible for its hardware solutions. With Acer’s recent milestone, the extended reality (XR) developer community gain new benefits as additional device choices are made available to showcase their creations with high-resolution, glasses-free stereoscopic 3D.
Content and application creators may also enjoy the synergy of OpenXR’s cross-platform, high performance API in delivering immersive, stereoscopic 3D visuals through its SpatialLabs solution. The OpenXR runtime is also available on Acer SpatialLabs Pro devices so users can utilize OpenXR-compatible applications such as Autodesk VRED and Blender.
Acer SteamVR Bridge
Acer’s proprietary SteamVR Bridge driver enables developers of VR applications to convert their creations on Acer’s SpatialLabs Pro devices to deliver clarity to the users without the need for VR headsets. Not only that, SpatialLabs Pro device users may also leverage SteamVR Bridge with NVIDIA Omniverse to broaden viewing options for enhanced stereo 3D projection of graphics and simulations.
You may visit the SpatialLabs Developer website for more information regarding the matter. Or you may also experience the SpatialLabs Pro devices firsthand as they will be on display at COMPUTEX from May 30th till June 2nd 2023.
