Morning Tec Japan, developer of Abyss Horizon developer, has just delivered the bad news with a server shutdown notice to its users in the English version. According to the notice, the game’s recharge feature will no longer be active on 19 January 2021, and the servers will be completely shut down on 26 February 2020. During that time however, players will continue to get appreciation gifts.
Dear Commanders,

The notice goes on to express gratitude towards players who have showed their support for the past 395 days, acknowledging that the game has experienced all sorts of difficulties and technical issues. It signs off on a positive “everything will be better” remark, although the irony is not lost on us.
For the uninitiated, Abyss Horizon is 3D action RPG has players taking on the role of a commander who is in charge of warship girls known as Funahime. It is your job as fleet leader to take on and repel the Onihime, demonic female beings which came from the abyss. If you are familiar with games such as Kantai Collection and Azur Lane, you will know exactly what to expect from Abyss Horizon. Given its action focus, Abyss Horizon is closer to the arcade version of Kantai Collection.
Server shutdowns are nothing new, although in this game’s case, it is quite amazing that it lived as long as it did, given that it had encountered various problems, the most notable one being the lawsuit filed against the Japanese version by Sega for obvious reasons.
