A case of a “doctor’s” drunken night of gacha

Some of you out there may be very familiar about doing really stupid things when completely wasted. For one Chinese “doctor”, he dreamt of a large sum of premium currency – Originite Prime in this case – in his Arknights account. As it turns out, it was no dream, and he did indeed purchase ~$500 worth of currency in his inebriated state. Fortunately for us, he recorded the entire thing, thinking he was streaming, and will now be immortalized in memes. Two videos, pre- and post-sobriety, can be found on bilibili, while a translated version for his drunken antics can be seen below.

Fortunately for him, he received donations to help him recover the cost of his impulse spending, half of which he has since donated to charity. Besides spending on IAPs, he also went on a tangent about worrying for the environment. Context can be found through the game’s subreddit for English readers.

This was an individual’s hubris making some good in the world, but Hypergryph has done charity through their game. One of them was a donation drive for the Shenzhen One Earth Nature Foundation, where players could purchase packs towards the support and habitat protection of the domestic Yangtze Finless Porpoise and Snow Leopard. In conjunction with the drive, Purestream was released, a new Operator based on the porpoise, and Cliffheart (a snow leopard) received a new skin.

Hypergryph had also donated to Zhejiang University’s infectious diseases department, a contribution of ~$460,000. When exam period arrived at the university, they had a billboard with a message from Amiya, the face of Arknights‘ icon, announcing as such.
