The “Wings of Feasting” is a wing glider from Genshin Impact‘s collaboration with KFC, that global players will finally be able to acquire through Twitch subscriptions. It’s pretty fair to expect that it wouldn’t be free, as the original run saw you buy a combo meal in order to obtain a redemption code.
Putting aside the fans who are unhappy over the Real Money requirement, others are expressing dissatisfaction that the KFC glider is only obtainable by subscribing to participating Twitch channels during the event period, presumably when they go live and stream Genshin Impact. Buying them outright as a pack similarly to outfits would have been preferred.
There is the case to make for players who may not have any KFC outlets nearby, therefore making it highly inconvenient at best to obtain a code. Let’s not forget licensing issues, as KFC outlets are not managed under one universal company.
Other points of contention include not actually watching the streamer on Twitch, as these content creators do tend to upload elsewhere e.g. YouTube. The event requires you to subscribe when the creators go live, something that may also prove difficult due to timezones. A machine translated comment also notes that the subscription money wouldn’t be going to miHoYo, besides not knowing who the content creator is. The minimum amount you need to spend is Two Months worth of a $4.99 (or your regional equivalent) subscription tier.
While the idea can be seen as supporting content creators on Twitch, not every person will have subscriptions open to them due to the various requirements to become Affiliate / Partner. YouTube could have been an option due to the platform also having similar system in Memberships, but that too also is not an option for smaller creators.
Perhaps miHoYo would be willing to revise the event to be a paid pack instead, like how the real life orchestra items were originally planned to be distributed. The paywall is completely understandable, to be clear. Just perhaps not via Twitch.
