Capcom seems to have accidentally listed Monster Hunter G for PC on their website, leading to some speculation that the original Monster Hunter was going to see a Steam release.
It’s not like it would have been the first time the game has been re-released- Monster Hunter G is itself the G-rank re-release of the original Monster Hunter, and the game did find its way to the Nintendo Wii in 2009, 4 years after its release on the PlayStation 2.
That being said, the listing has since been removed from the website. Capcom hasn’t clarified if the listing was a mistake was just an error, or a hint of ports to come.
Capcom has had a good go on PC lately, with their latest financial report namedropping Resident Evil Village, Monster Hunter Stories 2 as well as Monster Hunter Rise as titles driving up their sales.
While those were all multiplatform releases, Stories 2 was the first Monster Hunter Stories game to launch on Steam simultaneously, unlike Monster Hunter Rise which will only be getting its PC release next year.
That being said, they didn’t go into specifics of exactly how many of Stories’ sales came from its PC launch.
“As a result, high-margin digital sales continued to increase and total sales volume reached 19.8 million units, exceeding the 13.8 million units in sales of the same period of the previous fiscal year, thus driving up profits”, they said generally of their digital sales department.
