[ Guide ] Genshin Impact: Shadow of the Ancients

Shadow of the Ancients in Genshin Impact has you help out with some surveying, and of course, it’s not 100% as simple as that.

STARTING THE EVENT

You’ll need to be Adventure Rank 30 or above, and complete the Archon Quest: “A Flower Blooms in a Prison”. You’ll then be able to get the “Journey to Tsurumi” World Quest.

You’ll have to fight a somewhat tougher than usual Ruin Grader, one that regenerates even after you defeat it. To try find a solution to the conundrum, you’ll be directed to Hosseini who tasks you to do some surveying.

SURVEYING

With Ayesha’s Chaos Prospector, you need to find the right spot to interact to proceed. The gadget will show a conical light pointing you in the direction you need to go. The gadgets cannot be used during combat.

You can find chests with Hero’s Wits, enemies in one of the locations and a monument for the second phase of the event. The monument will not be active during the surveying phase. What you’re looking for is the General Purpose Directional Conduction Component.

STORMTERROR’S LAIR

Enemies in this area are Hilichurl.

YAOGUANG SHOAL

The enemy in this area is a Ruin Guard.

QINGXU POOL

The enemy in this area is a Ruin Guard.

TATARASUNA

Enemies in this area are Hilichurl.

SAMPLING

To start this phase, you’ll need to have completed the surveying and get the “Autonomous Mechanical Energy Source: Preface” quest. After a brief chat with Hosseini, you’ll need to return to the surveying points to charge up the Pursina’s Spikes.

Hit the Spikes with Electro attacks every now and again to ensure it’s charging at maximum capacity.

There’ll be two more survey spots that open up after completing the previous four spots to charge up more Pursina’s Spikes.

COMBAT

For the last phase, you’ll need to place the Pursina’s Spikes for yourself and then fight the Ruin Grader. You’ll want to charge up the Spikes with Electro, while also beating it down. It will try to destroy the Spikes, and there’ll be other enemies joining the melee as the battle goes on, so hope you’ll be able to focus enough on multiple things at once!

To complete the challenge with all Pursina’s Spikes at over 50% structural integrity, you can try charging them one by one so that it will be easier to incapacitate the Ruin Grader. Remember to start charging the third Spike once the second is almost finished!
