The Gundam Cafe, a series of themed cafes built around Mobile Suit Gundam are going to close all across Japan early next year.
In an announcement on the Gundam Cafe website, they announced that the Odaiba Gundam Cafe, as well as Gundam Tokyo Brand Core in Akihabara and Fukuoka Gundam Cafes would be closing their doors on January 30th.
Meanwhile, the Gundam Factory Yokohama cafe will be closing its doors when the Gundam Factory itself shuts down in March of 2022.
This follows the closure of the Dotonbori Gundam Cafe in Osaka, which closed earlier this year. The remaining Gundam Cafe in Osaka, Gundam Square, will also close on January 10th of 2021.
It seems as though the closure announcement was sudden for even the people running the cafe, as the website left a statement thanking the fans.
We apologize for the sudden closure of GUNDAM Café TOKYO BRAND CORE, Odaiba Store, and Fukuoka Store on January 30, 2022.
“GUNDAM SQUARE will be closed on January 10th (Monday, holiday).
YOKOHAMA Satellite will be open according to the period of “GUNDAM FACTORY YOKOHAMA”.Since the opening of the Akihabara store in April 2010, we have been supported by everyone’s support and have walked together for a long time.
From all of us involved in the management of the store, we can’t express our gratitude enough.Although our time is limited, we will do our best to provide a wonderful experience for everyone who visits us.

The Gundam Cafe has been a staple of the Gundam fan experience, serving various Gundam-themed foods. The cafe even made an appearance in Gundam Breaker 3, as one of the stages you could fight in sported decor from the cafe.
The Odaiba branch is situated right next to the life-sized Unicorn Gundam statue in Diver City, and is a short walk away from the Gundam Base megastore in the same mall.
