Shiny 3-stars aside, every game needs its low rarity characters, and Blue Archive is no different. Here’s our list of recommended 1- or 2-star relatively future proof students for launch day to clear general content. Check out our starter 3-star reroll tier list here, and a prioritization / progression guide.
Remember that all characters can eventually be raised to 5-stars in Blue Archive, and low rarity ones would typically be much easier to raise. Their strengths and weaknesses are elaborated in the Notes column.
NAME | ROLE | NOTES |
---|---|---|
YUUKA | TANK | Possesses a low cost shield to protect herself, and is fairly durable, more so when promoted to 3-stars. As a Tank, advantageous terrain is less important for her, at which point you might have someone more specialized anyway if you need it. |
TSUBAKI | TANK | Can attract aggro and raises her defense while she's at it, with a one-time self recovery. As a Special Armor Tank, she might not see as much use to begin with. The nature of her skills also means she MUST be accompanied by a healer. |
NONOMI | ATTACKER | With great range and self-ATK buff skills, she can shine in crowd situations. She's also available from the beginner missions, though you can only get her after a minimum of 5 days. At that point, you might have already rerolled for a better DPS. |
JUNKO | ATTACKER | Her long range piercing attack is what makes her stand-out. It does deduct her HP, however. Once she uses up her one-time immortality, it might be difficult to properly keep her alive to have her as a reliable DPS. |
HASUMI | ATTACKER | Hasumi is capable of dishing out lots of enemies, and can be suited for solo enemies. With her skill set, she might prefer a crowd of weaker enemies to continuously snipe out and buff herself instead. That's also her main weakness: if she's unable to kill enemies, then you can't benefit from her self-buffs. |
KOTORI | SUPPORT | Being able to give shields to 4 allies can be invaluable in keeping them alive, and she has some off-DPS capabilities. Her main weakness is starting out as a 1-star, so her initial stats would be quite poor as you might expect. |
AKARI | ATTACKER | She can blow up enemies within an area from a distance, besides potentially buffering herself for more oomph. Akari has an extremely simple kit and has no disadvantageous terrain. Her simple kit also does make her relatively easy to replace, but if you're lacking in options, she won't do you wrong. |
MUTSUKI | ATTACKER | Global players get her for free, and she can really pack the punch with her skills and mines. Her biggest weakness would be her mine placement which you're unlikely to 100% use efficiently, but is otherwise hardly your worst DPS. |
FUUKA | HEALER | This combat chef can reasonably keep her team topped up, while also giving them some durability. Granted, she only increases the defense of a single unit and its modifier is nothing spectacular, but don't back talk the cook. |
HARE | SUPPORT | Hare is capable of stunning enemies and reducing their recovery rate, as well as buffing her allies' evasion rate. She can give herself a self-buff in increasing her critical rate, but she's unlikely to be performing as well as a dedicated DPS. |
JURI | SUPPORT | She can attract enemies to a location, and can debuff an enemy's attack speed. She also raises her allies' HP. Juri suffers from low initial stats as a 1-star, and may not be as useful for Auto-only compositions. If her team can't blast enemies lured by her skill, her usefulness can also fall. |
YOSHIMI | ATTACKER | Bringing stun and AOE, Yoshimi could put in some great work. However, starting out as a 1-star means she's also very easy to replace, and doesn't have any advantageous terrain to consider permanently fielding her unless you have no other choice. |
HANAE | HEALER | Offering regeneration over time, it means healing is less likely to be wasted. She can also help keep one low-HP ally alive for longer, besides improving her allies' critical damage. Her heal over time is also a weakness, as burst damage enemies would snipe her allies first. |
AYANE | SUPPORT | She can heal and increase allies' critical resistance in an area. However, this also means her range is strictly limited to that radius, which may make it difficult to properly get them into formation. Her buff is also not exceptionally high by numbers alone. |
The nature of their low rarities means these characters don’t start out having the best initial stats, but their relative ease in raising could make up for it. Early in the game’s life, there aren’t as many 3-stars to start with either, so until the characters you want finally arrive, they can help you get to that point.
