Slime ISEKAI Memories review bombed after launch error prevents players from playing the game for over 20 hours

A frustrating error is affecting That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime ISEKAI Memories players as they couldn’t even play the game. Many players are met with the following notice the moment they tap on their device from the title screen:

Note that not all players are being affected by this, as some have been reported to be able to play the game just fine. However, the amount of players who encounter the error is large enough that the game is getting review bombed on Google Play Store.

Players first started to encounter this error en masse roughly 2 hours into the game’s launch time. The game’s Facebook page only made an announcement regarding it more than 5 hours after the error has became widespread. At the time of writing, the issue still hasn’t been resolved for over 20 hours.

In addition, there is still no word from the team on an estimated time for the fix, much less a fix being implemented itself. Discord user Vizz™#2898 in the unofficial Slime ISEKAI Memories Discord has found a temporary fix for the error, but unless you know your data transfer code and password, the other alternative will be to delete your progress and restart from scratch.

The steps are as follows:

1. Take note of your data transfer code and password (only possible if you have done so before the error occurred)
2. Delete your data
3. Play through the tutorial (DO NOT skip)
4. Click on Menu in the bottom left corner of the home screen and transfer your data
5. You should be able to play the game. DO NOT tap on the Home button outside of the game’s tutorial as that may cause the error again.

Note that this isn’t an official fix, so it might not work for everyone.

Note that this problem is only happening to the Global version of the game. Players in the Japanese version are not facing the same error at the launch screen.

UPDATE 29/10/2021, 2.30 pm GMT+8: There is an update for the game on Google Play Store which fixes the issue. iPhone users are still waiting for the update to be released on the Apple App store.
