Shin Megami Tensei protagonist and fan-favorite Demi-Fiend is going to return as a DLC boss in Shin Megami Tensei V.
This was revealed in the recently uploaded Shin Megami Tensei V News Vol 4. as well as in a separate video released on the Atlus Japanese youtube channel. There are English subtitles if you click on the CC option in the video settings.
Demi-Fiend will appear in a DLC quest called ‘Return of the True Demon’. Hear the Shin Megami Tensei V protagonist, Nahobino is given a Menora by the Catherdral of Shadows Head Sophia which brings into conflicts with The Fiends from Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne and eventually leads to a clash with Demi-Fiend. Defeating him will give the player his ‘essence’ which can help level up their party. This was announced alongside other DLC, ‘a Goddess in Training’ which involves the goddess Artemis, who has received a new design from series artist Masayuki Doi, as well as ‘The Rage of a Queen’ with Cleopatra, and ‘The Doctor’s Last Wish’ with Mephistopheles, two demons that had previously appeared in DLC quests in SMTIV: Apocalypse.
There will also be free DLC for a ‘safety’ difficulty and DLC to gain more money and exp by fighting mitamas.
Demi-Fiend is the protagonist of the third numbered title in the mainline Shin Megami Tensei series, Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne which was re-released as an HD Remaster earlier this year for Switch, PS4, and PC.
He has also previously been an optional boss in a previous Atlus RPG, Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga, where he was notorious for being one of the hardest boss battles in all of JRPGs. We will soon find out if he’s as difficult in this game.
Shin Megami Tensei V will be released for Nintendo Switch on the 12 of November 2021. Check out the English dub cast for the game that was recently unveiled.
