Nanashi Mumei from Hololive EN made it to Twitter’s Worldwide Trending tab today, following her unarchived Karaoke stream.
For those not in the loop, unarchived Karaoke streams are a common occurrence for Vtubers who want to perform songs without dealing with potential licensing issues- meaning that there’s no official record of them via VODs.
Mumei, as luck would have it, added another layer of secrecy to it, doing minimal promotion for the stream. She even went so far as to leave it out of her weekly schedule.
That being said, fans quickly noted that her genmates (Also referred as the HoloCouncil) also showed up in the stream, cheering on the shy Vtuber as she sang a variety of song covers.
Fans were so blown away by her performance she shot up to Twitter’s trending list, with 12.9k tweets as of the time of writing. You could tell this was about her karaoke too, since Twitter had branded it with a Music category.
Since the stream is over now we can’t tell how many concurrent viewers she had in the stream- though many clippers have made sure to preserve the performance, even if she can’t do so in an official capacity.
One Twitter user who was there though, grabbed a screenshot of the stream- which at least at one point had over 30,000 viewers watching an anime girl sing Wonderwall.

Mumei debuted as Hololive’s third wave of Vtubers under the Hololive EN banner- as part of the previously aforementioned HoloCouncil. The fact that she debuted little more than a month ago but has gathered enough of a following to start trending on Twitter is a good sign of the Vtuber ecosystem in general- as well as for fans of the anime girl who’s actually an owl.
