Hasbro has opened its own game studio, with the intent to develop its own GI Joe game, Gamerant reports.
Dubbed the New Raleigh-Durham Studio, it will be focused on developing both PC and console games, featuring talent formerly from WB Games.
The Hasbro game studio is also looking to expand its team, with open positions for Art Directors, Animators, Game Designer and Technical Directors.
This listing also gives a sneak peek at the studio’s first project, described as “multi-platform, Action-Adventure video game set in the GI JOE Universe!”
In the report, they mention that the studio will be under Wizards of the Coast, the arm of Hasbro that produces physical games like Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons.
While this is their first attempt at an in-house Triple-A game, this is far from their first foray into gaming. Hasbro has released games before, such as the widely praised Transformers War For Cybertron series, which was developed by High Moon Studios.
Since that series and the Transformers Devastation action game were delisted however, the company has been using its licenses for more mobile titles, such as the multitude of Transformers mobile game, including the recently announced Transformers: Heavy Metal.
We’ve reached out to Hasbro for comment, and will update once they respond.
